Roasted Chicken with Yorkshire Puddings and Gravy (Ayam Panggang) (Bilingual eng-Indonesia)

To complete the dish served with Yorkshire Pudding we made earlier, let’s cook Roasted Chicken. I got only chicken in the fridge lately, so set aside the idea about Roast Beef, maybe later. Well, enough said, here we go.

(Kali ini kita bikin ayam Panggang oven dan sayuran sebagai menu utama yang akan disajikan bersama Yorkshire Pudding yang sudah kita buat sebelumnya. Resep Yorkshire Pudding sudah tersedia di blog ya. Sekalian bikin saus gravy rumahan yang gampang.)

“Homemade British lunch today…yumm”

Ingredients:

Roasted Vegetables (Sayurnya):

  • 3 Yukon Potato –> peeled and cut chunks (Kentang –> kupas dan potong dadu)
  • 2 carrots –> peeled and cut chunks (wortel –> kupas dan potong)
  • salt (garam secukupnya)
  • cooking oil (minyak bersih secukupnya)

Steps:

  1. Mix the cut veggies with salt and oil. (Campur semua sayur yang sudah dipotong dengan garam dan minyak secukupnya.)
  2. Put in the veggies on the pan. Set aside (Letakkan sayuran dalam pan dan sisihkan.)

Finger lickin’ gooood

Roasted Chicken (Ayam Panggang):

  • 1 whole chicken (room temperature) (ayam potong –> suhu ruang)
  • 1 lemon –> juiced (lemon –> peras)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (garam)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pepper (bubuk merica)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (bubuk bawang putih)
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder (bubuk bawang bombay/ merah)
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika powder (bubuk cabe paprika)

Steps:

  1. Cut the breast of the chicken open, slice the bone part of both legs and thigh to cook the chicken well. (Potong melintang bagian dada ayam hingga terbuka, sayat bagian tulang paha atas dan paha bawah untuk memudahkan ayam matang sempurna.)
  2. Rub the chicken with lemon juice and set aside for 15 minutes. (Lumuri ayam dengan lemon dan diamkan 15 menit.)
  3. Mix the powdered spices with salt and pepper. (Campurkan bubuk bumbu dengan garam dan merica.)
  4. Rub the chicken again with the spice mix evenly. (Lumuri ayam dengan campuran bubuk bumbu secara merata.)
  5. Place the chicken on the top of the veggies and roast for 1 to 1 hour 20 minutes or until the chicken cooked well. (Letakkan ayam diatas saurian potong dan panggang selama 1 jam hingga 1 jam 20 menit atau hingga ayam matang sempurna.)

Yorkshire Puddings

Yorkshire Puddings: 

  • 2 eggs (beaten) –> telur ayam (kocok lepas)
  • 80 grams of all purpose flour (tepung terigu)
  • 118 ml of milk (susu cair)
  • salt (garam secukupnya)
  • Some cooking oil (minyak goreng bersih)

Steps:

  1. Heat oven to 230 C. (Panaskan oven hingga 230 C.)
  2. In a big bowl, beat the egg until mixed well. (Pada sebuah mangkuk besar campur terus dengan susu cair.)
  3. Shift the flour into the bowl, mix well. Add salt and mix again. (Saring tepung kedalam mangkuk, aduk rata, tambahkan garam, aduk rata.)
  4. Pour cooking oil into muffin tins ( fill 1/3 part of each cup only, not full ). (Tuang minyak goreng ke dalam cetakan muffin hingga 1/3 volume, jangan penuh.)
  5. Put in the muffin tin in oven for about 3 minutes. (Masukkan cetakan muffin ke dalam oven selama 3 menit.)
  6. Take out the muffin tin and pour 2/3 part of each cup with the batter. (Keluarkan cetakan dan tuangi 2/3 bagian masing-masing cetakan dengan adonan cair.)
  7. Bake for 15 minutes. (Panggang selama 15 menit.)

Homemade Gravy

Gravy (Sausnya):

  • The juice from the roasted chicken (kaldu alami dan minyak dari pangganan ayam panggang.)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (butter)
  • 1 tablespoon of all purpose flour (tepung terigu)
  • 1 cup of water (air)
  • salt and pepper (garam dan merica secukupnya)

Steps:

  1. Heat a pan and melt the butter. (Panaskan wajan dan lelehkan butter.)
  2. Put in flour and mix well. (Masukkan tepung dan aduk rata.)
  3. Pour in roasted chicken juice and mix again. (Masukkan kaldu alami ayam panggang dan aduk lagi.)
  4. Pour in water and mix well again, cook until thicken. (Masukkan air dan aduk rata lagi, masak hingga kental.)
  5. Season with salt and pepper (Bumbui dengan garam dan merica.)
