Bali Spicy Egg “Bali Telur” (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Here is another way to cook egg at home soon. Bali spicy egg a.k.a “Bali Telur”. Here we go.

  • 8 peeled boiled eggs (telur ayam rebus kupas)
  • 4 cloves of garlic (bawang putih)
  • 4 cloves of shallots (4 butir bawang merah)
  • 4 candle nuts (kemiri)
  • 5 red jalapeño pepper (lombok merah)
  • 3 lime leaves (daun jeruk)
  • 1 lemongrass (serai/sereh)
  • 3 cm of fresh turmeric (kunyit segar)
  • 1 tablespoon of grated palm sugar rock (gula Jawa)
  • salt and pepper (garam dan merica bubuk)
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (minyak sayur)
  • 100 ml of water (air putih)


  1. Blend together the garlic, shallots, candle nuts, turmeric, ginger, and coriander seeds. (Haluskan bersama bawang putih, bawang merah, kemiri, kunyit segar, dan lombok merah)
  2. Heat a pan on MEDIUM. Pour in the vegetable oil and stir fry the smooth spices blend until fragrant. (Panaskan wajan dengan api medium. Tuang minyak sayur dan tumis bumbu halus hingga wangi sekali.)
  3. Put in the boiled egg and mix well. Pour in the water and season with salt and pepper. Put in sugar rock, lime leaves and lemongrass. (Masukkan telur rebus dan aduk rata. Tuangkan air dan bumbui dengan garam dan merica. Masukkan gula jawa parut, daun jeruk dan serai/sereh.)
  4. Cook the chicken on LOW-MED heat until they are cooked well and the water reduced. For about 10 minutes. (Masak telur dengan api Kecil-Sedang hingga matang betul dan air menyurut. Kurang lebih selama 10 menit.)
  5. Serve warm (sajikan hangat)
