Grilled Skewered Pork with Peanut Sauce ” Sate Babi Saus Kacang” (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Many people in Indonesia love this food, grilling queen, skewered pork. Many people also serve it with simple Indonesian sweet soy sauce and chunks of small shallots. Yet, today I made this Grilled Skewered Pork with Peanut Sauce. Here is the recipe for it!

(Teman-teman, bikin sate babi saus kacang yuk. Biasanya sate babi disajikan bersama dengan kecap manis dan potongan bawang merah. Tapi hari ini aku bikin satenya dengan saus kacang kayak punya sate ayam. Rasanya mantaap banget ternyata, suami dan anak pada doyan. Yuk, bikin bareng-bareng)

Disajikan dengan lontong dan bumbu kacang semakin menambah selera makan

Ingredients:

Pork (daging babinya):

  • 1 kilograms of pork –> cut chunks (daging babi berlemak –> potong kotak)
  • some lemon juice (perasan jeruk lemon/ nipis)
  • salt and pepper (garam dan merica secukupnya)
  • Indonesian sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)

Peanut Sauce (saus kacangnya):

  • 150 grams of peanut –> deep fry until bit brown (kacang tanah –> goreng)
  • 3 garlic (bawang putih)
  • 3 small shallots (bawang merah)
  • 2 candle nuts (kemiri)
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (minyak sayur)
  • 150 ml of coconut milk (santan)
  • salt and sugar (garam dan gula secukupnya)
  • some boiling water (air mendidih/panas)
  • some Indonesian sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)

Condiments (bahan pelengkap):

  • some rice cake (lontong)
  • some chili blend (sambal)
  • some chopped small shallots (potongan bawang merah)

STEPS:

  1. Rub the pork with salt and pepper and store in fridge for 1-2 hours. (Bumbui daging dengan perasan jeruk lemon/nipis, garam dan merica secukupnya. Simpan dalam lemari es selama 1-2 jam.)
  2. Make the sauce: Blend smooth the peanuts, candle nuts, garlic, shallots. Stir fry with 1 tablespoon of oil on medium heat and pour in the coconut milk. Mix well until you can see the natural coconut and peanuts oil appears. Season with salt and sugar. Turn off the heat and set the sauce aside. (Membuat sausnya: Haluskan kacang, kemiri, bawang putih dan bawang merah. Tumis dengan api medium dan 1 sendok makan minyak dan tuangkan santan. Aduk rata hingga muncul minyak alami dari santan dan kacang. Beri garam dan gula secukupnya. Matikan api dan sisihkan saus.)
  3. Take 2 tablespoons of the sauce and dissolve with hot water and Indonesian sweet soy sauce if you feel the sauce is too thick. Set aside. (Ambil 2 sendok makan saus kacang dan beri air panas dan kecap manis sesuai selera jika dirasa saus masih terlalu kental. Sisihkan untuk disajikan bersama sate.)
  4. After 1-2 hours, skewer the pork chunks until all done. Set aside. (Setelah 1-2 jam, tusuk daging babi menjadi sate dan sisihkan.)
  5.  Heat the grill pan/pit and grill the pork until they are cooked well. While cooking, repeatedly turn the pork and baste them with Indonesian sweet soy sauce (Panaskan panggangan sate/ Teflon juga bisa. Panggang sate hingga matang betul. Selama memanggang terus-menerus balik daging babi hingga matang semua sisinya sambil diolesi kecap manis.)
  6. Serve the pork with rice cake, shallots, chili blend and peanut sauce. Enjoy! (Sajikan sate dengan lontong, potongan bawang merah, sambal dan saus kacang. Selamat menikmati!)
