Stuffed Puff Tofu “Tahu Isi” (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Find the puff tofu in any Asian stores around you. It is fried already and ready in a pack. Super easy to make this snack, one of my fave snacks. Here is the recipe for it.

(Salah satu camilan gorengan kesayangan kita semua nih, tahu isi. Tahu isi kali ini aku isi dengan sayuran dan suun, bisa dikasih daging apapun, sosis juga oke, terserah aja. Yuk, cobain bikin.)

“The Crunchy Stuffed Tofu..yuumm”

Ingredients:

  • 15 puff tofu (15 potong tahu goreng)
  • 20 grams of glass noodle –> soaked (suun –> rendam air hangat)
  • 2 garlic -> bashed (bawang putih –> geprak)
  • 3 small shallots –> sliced (bawang merah –> iris tipis)
  • 1 onion –> diced (bawang bombay –> iris dadu kecil)
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (minyak sayur)
  • 1 large carrot –> cut stick (wortel –> potong korek)
  • 100 grams of ground chicken (ayam cacah/giling)
  • 30 grams of fresh mushrooms –> sliced (jamur segar –> potong kecil)
  • 1 teaspoon of soy sauce (kecap asin)
  • salt and pepper (garam dan merica secukupnya)
  • oil for frying (minyak untuk menggoreng)

Batter (adonan celup):

  • 1/2 cup of all purpose flour (tepung terigu 1/2 cangkir)
  • 2 tablespoon of rice flour (tepung beras)
  • salt (garam)
  • 150 ml of water (air putih)

Steps:

  1. In a pan, pour in veggies oil and stir fry the garlic, shallot and onion until fragrant. (Pada sebuah wajan, tuang minyak sayur dan tunis bawang putih, bawang merah, dan bawang bombay hingga harum.)
  2. Put in the chicke, mushroom and carrot, cook well. (Masukkan ayam, jamur dan wortel, dan aduk hingga matang.)
  3. Put in the glass noodle and stir for seconds. (Masukkan suun dan aduk sebentar.)
  4. Give soy sauce, salt and pepper. Cook for 3 minutes. (Beri kecap asin, garam dan merica secukupnya. Masak selama 3 menit.)
  5. Turn off the heat and cool the glass noodle. (Matikan api dan dinginkan suun goreng.)
  6. Make the batter by combining all of the ingredients. (Buat adonan celup dengan mencampur semua bahan adonan celup.)
  7. Slit the tofu in one side and stuff it with stir fried glass noodle. Repeat and set aside. (Belah tahu pada satu sisinya dan isi dengan suun goreng dan sayurannya. Lakukan hingga semua tahu terisi dan sisihkan.)
  8. Heat a pot with lot of oil to fry the tofu on MEDIUM. (Panaskan wajan dengan ban yak minyak untuk menggoreng tahu.)
  9. Dip the tofu in the batter and deep fry them until golden brown. (Celup tahu dalam adonan celup dan goreng dalam minyak hingga keemasan.)
  10. Put the fried stuffed tofu on paper towel and serve immediately. (Tiriskan tahu dan sajikan segera.)
