Beignet (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Famous Beignet from New Orleans which means “fritters” in French. Try to make this easy peasy Beignet at home soon. Great for welcoming guest and friends at home. Fresh and free from preservative.

(Teman-teman, masa Natal gini, aku share resep bikin Beignet sendiri yang gampang di rumah ya, ini adalah donat kotak berongga di dalamnya. Mudah dibuat hampir sama kayak bikin donat hanya beda cara proofing. Yuk, bikin bareng-bareng)

Ingredients:

  • 380 grams of all purpose flour (terigu serba guna)
  • 1 sachet of instant dry yeast (fermipan/ ragi instant)
  • 30 grams of butter (butter)
  • 25 grams of white sugar (gula pasir)
  • 240 ml of milk (susu cair)
  • 2 grams of salt (garam)
  • 1 egg (telur ayam)

Addition:

  • some flour for dusting (tepung untuk taburan saat menguleni)
  • oil for frying (minyak untuk menggoreng)
  • some powered sugar for coating (gula bubuk untuk melapisi Beignet)

Steps:

  1. In a big bowl, mix together the all purpose flour, yeast, salt and sugar. (Campur rata tepung, gula, garam dan ragi instant pada sebuah mangkok besar.)
  2. Pour in the milk and egg, mix well. (Tuang susu dan telur, aduk rata.)
  3. Put in the butter and mix well again. (Masukkan butter dan aduk rata lagi.)
  4. Dust a table with flour, knead the dough until soft and smooth, elastic when you stretch small part of it. (Taburi meja dengan tepung tipis tipis, uleni adonan hingga lembut dan kalis elastis.)
  5. Wrap the dough with plastic wrap and store in a fridge for 8 hours. (Bungkus adonan dengan plastic wrap dan simpan dalam lemari es selama 8 jam.)
  6. Dust a table with flour lightly, punch the dough and knead for 20 seconds. Roll the dough with rolling pin shaping big rectangle with 1 cm thickness. (Taburi meja dengan tepung tipis-tipis, uleni adonan selama 20 detik. Gilas adonan dengan rolling pin hingga berbentuk persegi panjang dengan ketebalan 1 cm.)
  7. Start to cut the dough onto small squares. Set the cut dough aside and let it rise again for 10 minutes. (Potong-potong adonan hingga berbentuk persegi kecil. Biarkan mengembang lagi selama 10 menit.)
  8. After 10 minutes, heat a deep pan with lot of frying oil in it on MEDIUM. When the oil is hot enough, deep fry the dough until golden brown on each side. Drain the excess oil. (Setelah 10 menit, panaskan panci dengan banyak minyak di dalamnya untuk menggoreng beignet, gunakan api MEDIUM, goreng hingga coklat keemasan di kedua sisinya. Tiriskan.)
  9. Dust the fried beignet with powdered sugar, serve warm. (Taburi Beignet dengan gula bubuk, sajikan segera.)
