Homemade Teriyaki Sauce (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Try this easy peasy Teriyaki sauced chicken soon with homemade Teriyaki Sauce. You can actually use this for basting anything you want. Super yummy and easy to make.

(Teman-teman, bikin saus Teriyaki sendiri di rumah yuuukkk.. Gampang banget bikinnya dan bisa dibuat marinade juga untuk ayam dan daging lain. Yuk, cobain!)

Ingredients:

    • 100 ml soy sauce (kecap asin)
    • 30 ml ml water (air putih)
    • 30 ml Mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (gula pasir coklat –> bukan gula Jawa)
    • 45 ml honey (madu)
    • 1 garlic clove –> minced (bawang putih –> haluskan)
    • 4 grams fresh ginger –> minced (jahe –> haluskan)
    • some black pepper powder (bubuk merica hitam)
  • Chicken (Ayamnya):

– 500 grams of chicken thighs/ legs (paha ayam)

– 1/2 of lemon –> juice (lemon segar –> peras)

– 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (minyak sayur)

– 2 cloves of garlic –> bashed (bawang putih –> geprak)

– 175 ml of boiling water (air mendidih)

– 1/2 tablespoon of starch + 1 tablespoon of water (tapioca/ kanji  

    dicampur dengan air putih)

  • Garnish :

– some sesame seeds (biji wijen)

– some green onion –> sliced (bawang prei –> iris tipis)

Steps:

  1. Mix together the chicken and lemon juice. Set aside. (Baluri ayam dengan perasan jeruk lemon dan diamkan.)
  2. Heat a sauce pan on HIGH and pour in all the ingredients for making the Teriyaki sauce. Bring to simmer then LOW down the heat. Cook while stirring the sauce for 8-10 minutes. Then, cool down the sauce aside. (Panaskan wajan dengan api BESAR dan tuang semua bahan untuk saus Teriyaki, saat saus mulai mendidih KECIL-kan api. Masak saus dengan api KECIL selama 8-10 menit. Matikan api dan dinginkan saus.)
  3. When the sauce is cool, mix together the chicken and the sauce in a bowl. Cover the bowl and store in fridge for 4 hours. (Ketika saus sudah mendingin, campurkan dengan ayam dan aduk rata dalam sebuah wadah. Tutup wadah dan simpan dalam lemari es selama 4 jam.)
  4. After 4 hours, heat a NON STICK pan on MEDIUM. Pour in vegetable oil and stir fry the garlic until fragrant. Put in the chicken, put on the pan lid and cook in MEDIUM until it’s cooked well app. 20 minutes. (Setelah 4 jam, panaskan TEFLON dengan api MEDIUM. Tuang minyak sayur dan tumis bawang putih hingga harum, masukkan ayam dan saus. Tuangi dengan air mendidih dan masak dengan api MEDIUM hingga ayam matang sambil panci ditutup kurang lebih 20 menit.)
  5. When the chicken is cooked well, pour in some mixture of starch and water and stir until the sauce thickened. (Setelah ayam matang, tuangi dengan campuran tapioka/ kanji dengan air dan tunggu hingga saus mengental sambil terus diaduk.)
  6. Turn off the heat and serve the chicken with some sesame seed and green onions. (Matikan api dan sajikan ayam dengan taburan biji wijen dan irisan bawang prei.)
