McDonald’s Potato Hash brown copycat (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Anybody loves McDonald’s Potato Hashbrown for breakfast?? I tried to make this copycat for it for dinner tonight, yet I started to make them yesterday and let them stay in the freezer overnight. It is super crunchy and free from MSG and preservative. Here is the recipe.

(Teman-teman, ini aku share resep untuk bikin Potato Hash Brown khas seperti punya resto cepat saji McDonald’s. Rasanya asin gurih khas kentang plus kriuk banget. Yuk cobain bareng-bareng!)

McDonald's Potato Hash Brown copycat (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

Ingredients:

– 5 medium potatoes –> peeled (kentang ukuran besar –> kupas)

– some cold water (air dingin)

– some salt (garam)

– 2 tablespoons of butter (butter/ mentega)

– pepper (merica bubuk)

– 1 tablespoon of garlic powder (bubuk bawang putih)

– 2 tablespoons of rice flour (tepung beras)

– 1 tablespoon of tapioca (tepung tapioka)

– 2 tablespoons of cold water (air dingin)

Steps:

1. Grate the potato with big cheese grater. Pour cold water in a pot with some salt. Put in the grated potato and cover with the lid. Put in the freezer for 20 minute.

(Parut besar/ kasar kentang dengan parutan keju lubang besar. Tuang air dingin dalam sebuah panci dan masukkan garam secukupnya. Masukkan parutan kentang dan tutup dengan tutupnya. Masukkan dalam freezer selama 20 menit.)

2. Lay on baking paper on a baking tray/ cookie tray.

(Alasi baking tray dengan baking paper.)

3. Take the pot out of the freezer and drain the cold water. Squeeze well the potato to remove the excess water. Place it on a baking tray. Dry the whole surface of the potato using dry cloth.

(Keluarkan panci dari lemari es dan tiriskan airnya. Remas betul-betul kentang untuk menghilangkan airnya. Letakkan kentang diatas baking tray. Keringkan lagi kentang dengan menggunakan lap kering.)

4. Heat a frying pan on medium. Put in 2 tablespoons of butter and melt it. Put in the potato and mix well until it’s LITTLE BIT SOFT. Turn off the stove and set aside.

(Panaskan penggorengan dengan api medium. Beri 2 sendok makan butter dan lelehkan. Masukkan kentang dan aduk rata hingga kentang SEDIKIT LEMBUT. Matikan api dan sisihkan.)

5. Put in garlic powder, salt and pepper on the potato. Put in the rice flour and tapioca flour. Give 2 tablespoons of cold water. Mix well.

(Masukkan bubuk bawang putih, garam dan merica bubuk. Masukkan juga tepung beras dan tepung tapioka. Beri 2 sendok makan air dingin. Aduk rata.)

6. Place another baking paper on the top of the potato and flatten it forming flat rectangle with 1,5 cm thick. Cover the flat potato with the baking paper and put it in the freezer overnight.

(Letakkan selembar baking paper diatas kentang dan pipihkan hingga berbentuk persegi panjang besar dengan ketebalan 1,5 cm. Bungkus dengan baking paper dan masukkan dalam freezer semalaman.)

7. The day after, heat a frying pan on MEDIUM. Cut the potato plank using sharp knife the way you like. When the oil is hot enough, fry the potato until golden brown. Drain the excess oil using sieve and serve warm. Enjoy the crunch…

(Keesokan harinya, panaskan penggorengan dengan api medium dengan cukup banyak minyak untuk menggoreng. Potong-potong kentang pipih sesuai selera. Jika minyak sudah cukup panas, goreng potongan kentang hingga kuning keemasan. Tiriskan dan sajikan panas.)

    nanya say, step 5. semua bahan di campur ke adonan kentang yg sdh di ksih butter td ya? baru ditaruh di baking paper di flat (1.5cm) gitu aja utk di simpan di frezer?

      Iya betul Elizabeth, setelah di tumis sama butter, ditunggu bentar lalu masuk bahan tepung tepung an, diaduk lagi, dibentuk kotak persegi panjang pipih baru dimasukkan kulkas ya
