Soft Tofu Stew “Tumis Tahu Halus” (Bilingual Eng-Indonesia)

One of Chinese favorite dish, Tofu. Here I used soft tofu, maybe you can use egg tofu too. This kind of tofu is very fragile so you have to cook and handle it with extra care, but they will serve you very smooth and melt in your mouth texture. Here is the recipe for it.

(Teman-teman ini aku share resep untuk bikin tumis tahu halus, bias juga pakai tahu telur (egg tofu) untuk menu yang satu ini. Simpel, cepat dan ringkes. Cocok untuk yang lagi bergegas tapi tetep pengen makan enak. Yuk, cobain!)

Soft Tofu Stew "Tumis Tahu Halus"

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams of soft tofu –> cut cubes (tahu halus –> potong kotak)
  • 2 eggs –> beaten (telur –> kocok lepas)
  • 3 cloves of garlic–> bashed (bawang putih –> geprek)
  • 1 onion –> chopped (bawang Bombay –> potong dadu kecil)
  • 2 medium tomatoes –> cut onto 4 each (tomat ukuran medium-> potong masing-masing menjadi 4 bagian)
  • 1 leek–> cut long (bawang prei –> potong panjang)
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce (kecap asin)
  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce (saus tiram)
  • 500 ml of chicken stock (kaldu ayam)
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil (minyak wijen)
  • salt and pepper (garam dan merica)
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (minyak sayur)
  • 3 tablespoons of water (air) + 1 tablespoon of potato/ corn starch (maizena)

Steps:

  1. Heat big pan on HIGH. Pour in vegetable oil and stir-fry the garlic and onion until fragrant. Pour in the egg and stir-fry until cooked. (Panaskan wajan besar dengan api BESAR. Tuang minyak sayur dan tumis bawang putih dan bawang bombay hingga harum. Masukkan telur dan tumis hingga matang.)
  2. Season with soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt and pepper. Then, pour in the chicken stock. Bring it to boil. Put in the tofu and cook for another 5 minutes. Put in the tomato and leek mix well. Directly, pour in the starch water little by little while keep on stirring the stock until you reach thickness consistency you want. Be extra careful with the tofu, you don’t want to break them. (Bumbui dengan kecap asin, saus tiram, garam dan merica sesuai selera. Tuang kaldu ayam dan masak hingga mendidih. Masukkan tahu dan masak selama 5 menit. Masukkan potongan tomat dan bawang prei dan aduk rata. Langsung tuang perlahan campuran air dan maizena sambil terus diaduk hingga mencapai kekentalan yang diinginkan. Hati hati dengan tahu nya, mudah hancur.)
  3. Pour in sesame oil to the pan and stir quickly for seconds. Take the pan off the stove. Move the dish onto big plate. Serve immediately. (Tuang minyak wijen dalam wajan dan aduk cepat selama beberapa detik. Angkat wajan dari api dan segera pindahkan hidangan diatas sebuah piring/ pinggan. Sajikan segera.)
