Beef Meatballs in Tom Yum Soup “Bakso Kuah Tom Yum” (Bilingual Eng-Indo)

Made this beef meatballs in Tom Yum soup this morning. I used instant  Tom Yum paste for this, yet better to put more ingredients like garlic, shallots, and lemon grass. Well, this dish is spicy and hot fits cold weather and makes good dinner. Here is the recipe.

(Teman-teman, aku selalu simpan bumbu Tom Yum bentuk pasta di dalam kulkas, nah banyak makanan bisa dihasilkan dari olahan Tom Yum ini, ini salah satunya. Sebagai penggemar bakso sekaligus penggemar Tom Yum, bakso kuah Tom Yum ini memang pas banget. Nggak perlu tambah sambal dan kecap manis lagi makannya. Yuk, cobain!)

Beef Meatballs in Tom Yum Soup

BEEF MEATBALLS (Bakso Sapi):

Ingredients:

– 250 grams of ground beef (daging sapi giling segar)

– 1 large egg (telur ayam)

– 3 tablespoon of bread crumbs (tepung panir/tepung roti)

– 2 tablespoon of corn/potato starch (tepung maizena)

– 1/2 teaspoon of salt (garam)

– 1/4 teaspoon of pepper (merica bubuk)

– 1 tablespoon of garlic powder (bubuk bawang putih)

– 2 cloves of garlic –> bashed (2 buah bawang putih dikeprek)

Steps:

1. Preheat one medium pot with 3 liters of water inside. Just keep it shimmer, not boiled.

(Panaskan panci ukuran sedang dengan diisi 3 liter air didalamnya, jangan biarkan mendidih, cukup panas saja.)

2. Mix together the all of the ingredients in a big bowl.

(Campur bersama seluruh bahan dalam sebuah mangkuk besar.)

3. Knead and push the beef mix with your hand through your fingers for 5 minutes, until the beef looks bit pale.

(Uleni dan tekan-tekan daging sapi dengan tangan melewati jari-jari kita, selama 5 menit hingga daging sapi kelihatan lebih pucat.)

4. Begin to form the meatballs by using both of your hand, take one tablespoon of beef mix and make circular move to form ball.

(Mulai buat bola-bola daging nya dengan kedua tangan, ambil 1 sendok makan daging dan gerakkan tangan membentuk bola dengan gerakan memutar.)

5. Put in the meatballs slowly into shimmering water (NOT BOILING) and wait until the meatballs float on the surface of the water.

(Masukkan bola daging ke dalam air panas di panci (BUKAN AIR MENDIDIH) dan tunggu hingga mereka mengapung di permukaan.)

6. Meanwhile, make the soup by putting 2 cloves of garlic into the water.

(Sementara itu buat sup dengan memasukkan 2 butir bawang putih kedalam air rebusan..)

6. Turn on the heat to boil the soup, when all of the meatball float. Let it boil for another 7-8 minutes.

(Besarkan api untuk membuat supmendidih, ketika semua bola bakso telah mengapung. Biarkan sup mendidih selama 7-8 menit.)

7. Take the meatballs out of the soup and put them in a clean bowl, closed with lid.

(Keluarkan bola daging dari sup dan letakkan didalam mangkuk tertutup.)

TOM YUM SOUP (Sup Tom Yum):

– 2 tablespoons of Tom Yum paste (bumbu Tom Yum instant)

– 3 cups of water (in this case it the “beef broth form the meatballs”) –> follow the measurement instruction for the amount of the water needed for your Tom Yum paste. (Kuah rebusan bakso sapi –> sesuaikan takaran bumbu Tom Yum yang digunakan dengan banyaknya air sesuai petunjuk dalam kemasan)

– 1 lemongrass –> bashed (serai –> geprek)

– 3 cloves of garlic –> bashed (bawang putih –> geprek)

– 1/2 of shallot  –> sliced (bawang merah 4 biji –> iris tipis)

– 2 lime leaves (daun jeruk)

– salt and pepper (garam dan merica hitam secukupnya)

– 2 dried/ fresh red chili (lombok merah kering, boleh juga pakai yang segar)

– 2 tomatoes –> cut onto wedges (tomato –> potong-potong)

– 1 carrot –> cut chunks (wortel –> potong tebal)

– 70 grams of Champignon mushroom –> sliced half (jamur Champignon –> potong 2)

– some lemon juice (perasan jeruk lemon sebanyak yang kamu suka)

– 1 leek –> sliced long (bawang prei –> iris panjang)

Steps:

1. Boil the beef meatballs soup and put in garlic, shallots, dried/ fresh chili, lemon juice carrot and mushrooms. Put in the Tom Yum paste and stir well. Put in the lime leaves and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the mushroom and carrot soft. Place in the meatballs and boil for another 5 minutes.

(Rebus kuah bakso sapi dan masukkan bawang putih, bawang merah, lombok merah, perasan lemon, wortel dan jamur. Masukkan pasta/ bumbu Tom Yum dan aduk rata. Masukkan daun jeruk dan bumbui dengan garam dan merica hitam secukupnya. Masak hingga jamur dan wortel empuk. Masukkan bakso sapi kedalam kuah dan rebus selama 5 menit hingga mandidih.)

2. Serving: Place the sup along with the meatballs, carrot and mushrooms in a bowl, the put in cut tomatoes and leek. Serve hot!

(Sajikan kuah Tom Yum bersama dengan bakso sapi, wortel, dan jamur dalam sebuah mangkuk, letakkan pula potongan tomat segar dan irisan bawang prei. Sajikan panas.),
