Glutinous Rice Balls with Peanut Filling “Ronde Kacang”(Bilingual Eng-Indo)

I made this chewy yummy balls this afternoon, craving for this since yesterday right after I watched The Red Cliff II. This is Glutinous Rice Balls with Peanut filling served with ginger scented clear soup. I made this on my own way and since this is the first time for me o make, I do not know I’m doing..here we go!

(Teman-teman, ini aku share resep sederhana untuk bikin Ronde isi Kacang. Kebetulan lagi kepengen banget ronde abis liat di film plus kangen ronde Peneleh Surabaya yang pake isian kacang tumbuk. Akhirnya bikin seporsi aja. Yuk, cobain!)

Ingredients: (for 1 portion- 10 rice balls)

Balls (Bola Ketannya):

– 8 tablespoons of glutinous rice flour (tepung ketan)

– 50 ml hot water (air panas)

– 2 tablespoons of white sugar (gula pasir)

Filling (Isiannya):

– 2 tablespoons of oven/dry fried ground peanut (kacang tanah yang sudah disangrai/ dioven)

– 1 tablespoon of white sugar (gula pasir)

– 1 tablespoon of water (air)

Soup (Kuahnya):

– 500 ml water (air putih)

– 1 small thumb of ginger –> peeled and bashed (jahe seruas sedang –> dikupas & digeprek)

– 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (brown sugar –> aku nggak pake gula Jawa)

Steps:

1. Grind the ingredients for making Filling all together. Set aside.

(Tumbuk kasar semua bahan untuk Isian dan campur rata. Sisihkan)

2. Boil 2 cups of water in a small pot in medium heat.

(Rebus 2 cangkir air putih dalam panci kecil dengan api medium.)

3. In a bowl, mix the ingredients to make dough balls. Mix well until smooth and roll the dough making sausage shape. Cut the dough onto 10 equal pieces. Round one piece of dough and flatten it using your thumb making small disk with diameter 3 cm. Put 1/4 teaspoon of the filling paste on the center of the disk and seal it tight then round it shaping a ball. Repeat until all the dough and filling ends.

(Di sebuah mangkuk, campur semua bahan untuk membuat adonan ketan. Campur rata hingga kalis dan perlahan guling-gulingkan adonan membentuk sosis . Potong adonan menjadi 10 bagian sama. Bulatkan satu potong adonan dan tekan-tekan dengan jempol tangan hingga membentuk lembar pipih dengan diameter 3 cm. Letakkan 1/4 sendok teh di tengah lembar ketan dan tutup rapat dan bulatkan seperti bola. Ulangi hingga adonan ketan dan isian habis.)

4. Put all of the balls in the pot and boil until they float for about 5-10 minutes. Remove both the balls and the boiling water in a bowl and set aside.

(Masukkan bola bola ketan dalam panci dan rebus hingga semua mengapung, kurang lebih selama 5-10 menit. Pindahkan air rebusan dan bola-bola ketan dalam sebuah mangkuk dan diamkan sejenak.)

5. Boil all of the ingredients for making the Soup on medium heat. Boil more for 5-10 minutes.

(Rebus semua bahan untuk Kuah dengan api medium. Didihkan selama 5-10 menit.)

6. Serving: Take only the balls from the water, place them in a bowl and pour in the soup. Ready to be served warm!

(Penyajian: ambil bola bola ketan dari air rebusan, letakkan dalam mangkuk dan tuang kuahnya. Siap disajikan panas!)
