Classic Fish and Chips (Bilingual-Eng-Indo)

Here is my simple way to make Classic Fish and Chips at home. Using no beer instead using baking powder. Let’s try!

(Teman-teman ini aku share cara bikin Fish and Chips yang seperti dijual di cafe cafe itu, gorengan ikannya garing dan kriuk banget dimakan. Yuk, cobain!)

Ingredients:

Batter (Adonan celup)

– 1 cup of allpurpose flour (secangkir tepung terigu)

– 1 cup of milk (secangkir susu cair)

– 1 egg (telur ayam),

– 1 teaspoon of salt (garam)

– 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper (bubuk merica hitam)

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

Main ingredients and sauce (Bahan utama dan sausnya):

– 2 medium potatoes (kentang ukuran medium)

– 2 dory fillet (fillet ikan dori)

– 1 lemon  –> slice onto 4 (buah lemon–> iris menjadi 4 bagian)

– some tar tar sauce (saus tar tar botolan)

Steps:

Making the batter:

1. Mix all of the ingredients to make batter. Set aside for 30 minutes.

(Campur bahan untuk adonan celup dan aduk rata. Diamkan selama 30 menit.)

Making the Chips:

1. Peel, wash and cut the potatoes onto long stick shapes.

(Kupas, cuci, dan potong-potong kentang memanjang seperti korek api tebal.)

2. In a large bowl, dip the cut potatoes in cool water for 15 minutes.

(Dalam sebuah mangkuk besar, rendam potongan kentang dalam air dingin selama 15 menit.)

3. Take the potato out of the water and place them on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry with another clean kitchen towel.

(Keluarkan kentang dari dalam air dan letakkan di atas sebuah lap bersih. Tepuk-tepuk permukaan kentang dengan menggunakan satu lap bersih lainnya.)

4. In a frying pan, pour enough oil to fry the potatoes. Put in the potatoes when the oil is hot enough. Fry until they are golden brown.

(Di sebuah penggorengan, tuang cukup minyak untuk menggoreng kentang. Masukkan kentang jika minyak telah cukup panas. Goreng hingga kecoklatan.)

5. Take the potatoes out of the oil. Sift the excess oil from the potatoes by putting them in a sieve.

(Keluarkan kentang dari dalam minyak. Tiriskan minyaknya dengan meletakkan kentang di saringan.)

Fry the Fillet (Menggoreng Ikannya):

1. Heat your frying pan with lot of oil on medium heat.

(Panaskan penggorengan dengan minyak banyak dengan api medium.)

2. Put the fish fillet on a clean plate and tap the surface using kitchen towel.

(Letakkan fillet ikan diatas piring dan perlahan lap permukaan nya dengan lap kering bersih hingga kering.)

3. Deep the fillet in the batter and slightly take it out, drip the excess batter until it ends with thin batter covering the fillet, no excess batter.

(Celup fillet ikan kedalam adonan celup dan perlahan keluarkan, tiriskan semua adonan yang menetes hingga hanya tersisa adonan yang menempel di perlukaan fillet saja.)

4. Fry the fillet in the pan for 5 minutes each surface until golden brown. Take the fish out and drip the excess oil.

(Goreng fillet ikan hingga kecoklatan selama masing masing 5 menit per permukaan atau hingga coklat keemasan. Tiriskan.)

5. Serve the fish with the chips (potato) and tar tar sauce, don’t forget some slice of lemon. Enjoy!

(Sajikan ikan bersama kentang goreng dan saus tar tar. Jangan lupa irisan lemon. Enjoy!)
