Homemade Egg Custard Dish (Bilingual Eng-Indo)

Here is my simple recipe for Egg Custard Dish. You can cook them either in your regular non stick pan, in the oven, or in the steamer. Well in this recipe I use the oven instead of the steamer. And use only carrot, champignon mushrooms, and leek for the garnish. Please enjoy…

(Teman-teman ini aku share cara bikin Egg Custard Dish seperti Chawanmushi di reto Jepang, cuman aku nggak pake mirin dan dashi cukup pake kaldu ayam biasa dan aku kukus di oven, bukan di steamer, …hehehe. Tapi untuk yang mau pake dandang juga aku sertakan langkahnya di bawah ya. Yuk, cobain bareng-bareng)

Egg Custard

Ingredients:

– 2 large eggs (telur ayam negeri)

– 300 ml of chicken stock (kaldu ayam)

– Salt (garam secukupnya)

– Thin sliced carrot (wortel yang diiris tipis)

– Thin sliced leek (bawang prei yang diiris tipis)

– Thin sliced champignon mushroom (jamur champignon yang diiris tipis)

– Hot boiling water (air mendidih)

Steps:

1. Preheat your oven to 180 C. Place your baking tray on the center of the oven. If you use a steamer, you can start to boil the water in high heat.

(Panaskan oven hingga 180 C. Letakkan baking tray di bagian tengah oven. Jika manggunakan dandang, bisa panaskan air di dalamnya hingga mendidih dengan api medium.)

2. In a big bowl, beat the eggs lightly and pour in the chicken stock and salt. Stir well lightly too.

(Pada sebuah mangkuk besar, kocok pelan telur, campurkan kaldu ayam dan garam secukupnya. Aduk pelan saja hingga rata.)

3. Prepare your cups and begin to strain (use a strainer) the egg mixture into them. Place your sliced leek, carrot, and mushroom on the top of the egg mixture. Cover the surface of the cups with aluminum foil tightly.

(Siapkan cangkir atau cetakan, saring (gunakan saringan bersih) perlahan campuran telur kaldu kedalam cangkir/ cetakan satu per satu. Hal ini dilakukan untuk menghindari gelembung di permukaan telur nanti. Letakkan perlahan irisan jamur, bawang prei, dan wortel. Tutup permukaan cangkir dengan aluminum foil satu persatu.)

4. Place the cups on the baking tray carefully and pour in boiling water about 3/4 height of the tray. Bake the egg for about 25-30 minutes. Done!

(Letakkan satu persatu cangkir/ cetakan pada baking tray dan tuang air mendidih pada baking tray setinggi 3/4 dari tinggi tray yang digunakan, untuk membantu pematangan sempurna. Panggang telur selama 25-30 menit. Selesai!)

5. If you use a steamer, put in the cups in the steamer and steam in low heat for about 20-25 minutes. Done!

(Jika menggunakan dandang, letakkan cangkir dalam dandang dan tim dengan api kecil selama 20-25 menit. Selesai!)
