Mayo Egg Rolls (“Risoles Mayo”) (Bilingual Eng-Indo)

This is not your so common Egg Rolls, since this roll got creamy filling inside. Just use simple ingredients and serve you nice appetizer/ snack. Try it soon!

(Teman-teman ini aku share resep Risoles Mayo yang aku bikin di rumah, resepnya sederhana dan gunakan bahan untuk isian risoles sesuai selera kalian, aku pakai Miracle whip instead of mayo, dan pake Spam instead of ham, ditambah keju mozarela supaya makin yahuuud). Rasanya luar biasa yummy. Yuk, cobain rame-rame!)

Ingredients:

Wrappers (kulit risoles):

– 1/2 cup of all purpose flour (tepung terigu)

– 1 tablespoon of potato/corn starch (kanji)

– 180 ml of water (air putih)

– 1 egg (telur ayam)

– 1 tablespoon of butter (melted) (mentega dicairkan)

– 1/8 teaspoon of salt (garam)

Egg Rolls Filling (isi risoles):

– 6 tablespoons os mayonnaise (I am using Miracle Whip here) (mayones)

– 100 grams of mozzarella cheese (keju mozzarella –> boleh dihilangkan jika tidak ingin)

– 100 grams of ham/ Spam (daging ham/ Spam/ Ma Ling)

– 3 sheets of cheddar cheese (keju cheddar lembaran)

– 2 boiled eggs (telur –> rebus)

– 1 egg (telur ayam untuk lapisan risoles)

bread crumb (tepung roti/panir)

Steps:

1. Making the wrappers: Mix together all of the ingredient well until there is no lump in the batter. In a hot clean non stick pan, pour in 1/4 cup of batter and quickly tilt the pan to make thin pancakes. Take the pancake out when the side start to swirl.

(Membuat kulit risoles (pancake): Campur semua bahan dan aduk rata hingga tidak ada bagian yang menggumpal. Pada sebuah teflon panas, tuang 1/4 cangkir adonan dan segera ayun teflon hingga berbentuk bundar seperti pancake tipis. Angkat kulit lumpia jika sisi sisinya mulai menggulung.)

2. Put the pancake with the upper side down on a clean dry kitchen napkin and cover it with another napkin, Make another pancake and stack it on the previous pancake with same position, upper side down, cover them with another napkin to keep them moist. Repeat until the batter done.

(Letakkan pancake dengan posisi bagian alas diatas pada sebuah lap kering bersih, dan tutup pancake dengan selembar lap kering lain. Buat kembali pancake berikutnya dan susun diatas pancake yang sudah ada di atas lap dengan posisi sama, bagian alas diatas. Tutup kembali dengan lap kering bersih supaya tetap lembut dan tidak kering. Ulangi hingga adonan kulit habis.)

3. Cut the cheddar cheese sheet into half, the boiled egg onto 4 pieces, and Spam/ Ham into half (if you use Spam just slice it with 1 cm thickness and cut it long into half and you can pan fried the Spam first before putting it inside the roll if you like).

(Potong keju cheddar lembaran menjadi dua, potong telur rebus menjadi 4 bagian, dan Ham/ Spam menjadi dua (jika memakai Spam, iris dengan ketebalan 1 cm dan potong memanjang menjadi dua bagian dan silahkan menggoreng Spam/ Ma Ling telebih dahulu jika ingin.))

4. Make the Egg Rolls: Take one of the wrapper, flip it so the upper side down, and fill the pancake with cheddar cheese on the base, followed by Spam/ ham, mayonnaise, boiled egg, and top with 1 tablespoon of mozzarella cheese. Wrap it tight like making envelope and roll it to the end. Repeat until the wrappers and filling ingredients are done.

(Membuat Risoles: Ambil selembar kulit, balik kulit sehingga bagian bawah berada diatas dan mulai isi kulit dengan lembaran keju cheddar di bagian dasar, diikuti potongan Spam/  Ma Ling/ lembar ham, telur rebus dan ditaburi 1 sendok makan keju mozzarella diatasnya. Bungkus rapat seperti membuat amplop dan gulung rapi. Ulangi hingga kulit risoles dan bahan isian habis.)

5. Preheat your frying pan with lot of oil to deep fry the egg rolls on medium. Meanwhile, prepare 2 plates and fill them with 1 beaten egg in one plate and the bread crumbs in the another. Begin to dip the egg roll one by one into the beaten egg evenly and roll them on the bread crumbs. Fry the Egg Rolls just until the bread crumb coat started to golden brown (don’t fry it longer or it will burst out.). Put the Egg rolls on a shieve or paper towel and serve them warm. Enjoy!

(Panaskan penggorengan dengan minyak banyak di dalamnya dengan api medium. Sementara itu, siapkan da biah piring dan isi satu piring dengan 1 butir telur yang dikocok lepas dan tepung panir/ roti di piring lainnya. Mulai celup risoles kedalam kocokan telur dan ratakan ke seluruh permukaannya, guling risoles di tepung roti/ panir dna goreng hingga kecoklatan saja (jangan menggoreng risoles terlalu lama atau risoles akan pecah). Tiriskan dan sajikan hangat. Yummm)
