Homemade Chicken Meatballs “Bakwan Ayam”(Bilingual-Eng-Indo)

I love soup during rainy days, just like I love the rainbows. And simple chicken meatballs soup is one of my favorites. I has been a nice and yummy dish for children too. Here is my simple way to make smooth, yummy, bouncy chicken meatballs. (Teman-teman ini aku share cara membuat bakwan ayam yang enak dan lembut. Cocok menemani makan siang atau malam diwaktu hujan. Bisa disajikan dengan sayuran rebus, tambah bawang goreng, dan daun bawang. Yuk, bikin bareng-bareng..) IMG_8359

Ingredients:

  • 400 grams of chicken breast (daging dada ayam segar)
  • 5 tablespoons of potato/corn starch (tepung kanji)
  • 1 tablespoon of all purpose flour (tepung terigu)
  • 4 egg white (putih telur)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (bawang putih)
  • 2 cloves of shallot (bawang merah)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt (garam)
  • 1/8 teaspoon of pepper (merica bubuk)
  • 1 leek for the soup (satu batang dauh bawang untuk supnya)
  • 2 cloves of garlic for the soup (dua butir bawang putih untuk supnya)
  • 1,5 litres of water (air putih)

Steps:

  1. Heat a pot with water inside to make soup.

(Panaskan panic berisi air untuk membuat sup.)

  1. Put in the chicken into a food processor/ blender and blend it together with starch, flour, egg white, garlic, shallot, salt, and pepper until smooth.

(Masukkan daging ayam kedalam food processor/ blender dan giling hingga lembut bersama kanji, tepung terigu, putih telur, bawang putih, bawang merah, garam dan merica.)

  1. Turn the heat to small when the water started to boil. The water shouldn’t be bubbly hot.

(Kecilkan api ketika air mulai mendidih. Air dalam panic tidak boleh mendidih meletup-letup, cukup panas saja.)

  1. Start to take 1 tablespoon of the meat and round it using another 1 spoon (so you use 2 spoons) to make balls and put them into the hot water.

(Mulai bentuk bakwan dengan cara ambil 1 sendok makan adonan daging dan bulatkan dengan bantuan satu sendok lain. Bentuk seperti bola dan masukkan perlahan kedalam air panas.)

  1. Gently put in the leek, some salt and pepper to taste the soup.

(Masukkan daun bawang kedalam sup bersama dengan garam dan merica sesuai selera.)

  1. When all of the meatballs are in the soup, turn the heat to medium until the balls float on the surface. Cook the meatball until the soup start to boil then turn off the heat.

(Ketika semua bola daging masuk dalam sup, besarkan api hingga medium hingga semua bola daging/bakwan mengapung dipermukaan. Masak bakwan hingga sup mulai mendidih, matikan api.)

  1. Serve the chicken meatballs with the soup in a bowl, together with cut of leek, fried onions, and chili mix.

(Sajikan bakwan ayam bersama supnya dalam sebuah mangkuk, bersama potongan daun bawang, bawang goreng, dan saus sambal.) IMG_8387
