How to make Popiah/ Spring Rolls (Bilingual-Eng-Indo)

Hi, guys.. here I share you how I made my homemade Popiah/ Spring rolls filled with salami, leek, onion, egg, carrot, and garlic. For sure you can add any other veggies or meat inside these crispy things anyway you like. I made the wrapper my self too, well.. since this is the first time for me to make my own wrapper, kinda confused but I decided to keep on going. Share you now since I just can’t hardly wait to post this rather than better edition next time..lol. Let’s get started!

(Teman-teman, ini aku share cara bikin lumpia goreng di rumah, isinya bisa berbagai macem sayuran sesuka hati, dagingnya juga boleh diganti seafood ato telur. Aku coba bikin kulitnya sendiri juga, agak ribet, cuman menarik untuk dicoba..hehe buat yang penasaran gimana hebohnya bikin kulit lumpia sendiri..Yuk, bikin rame-rame!)

Ingredients:

– 4 cups of all purpose flour (250 grams) (tepung terigu)

– 1/4 teaspoon of salt (garam)

– 450 ml cold water (air dingin)

– 100 grams of meat (chicken/ground beef/ lamb/pork,etc –> I’m using salami here^^) (daging ayam/daging sapi giling, sosis, pilihan sesuai selera)

– 2 large carrots (wortel)

– 1 egg (telur ayam)

– 1 leek (daun bawang prei)

– 1 onion (bawang bombay)

– 1 clove of garlic (bawang putih)

– 1 tablespoon of sugar (gula pasir)

– 1/2 teaspoon of salt (garam)

– 1/2 teaspoon of pepper (merica bubuk)

– 1 egg white (for sealing the wrap) (putih telur untuk melekatkan lembaran lumpia)

– oil for frying (minyak goreng untuk menggoreng lumpia nanti)

Step:

1. Preheat your pan to high and pour 2 tablespoon of oil. Put in garlic and onion, stir well until they are soft. Meanwhile, beat the egg  in a small bowl using fork.

(Panaskan penggorengan dengan api besar dan tuang 2 sendok makan minyak goreng. Masukkan bawang putih dan bawang bombay, aduk rata hingga bawang lemas.Sementara itu, kocok telur dengan menggunakan garpu pada sebuah mangkuk)

2. Put in your selected meat and the carrot, stir well.

(Masukkan daging pilihanmu (boleh ayam/ sapi/ sosis, dll) dan wortel kedalam wajan dan aduk rata.)

3. Put in pepper, salt and sugar into the pan and stir well.

(Masukkan merica bubuk, garam dan gula ke dalam wajan dan aduk rata.)

4. Pour in the egg into the pan and stir well until the egg well cooked.

(Tuang telur kocok kedalam wajan dan aduk rata hingga telur matang benar.)

5. To make the wrappers: Mix in flour and salt in a big bowl.

(Untuk membuat bungkus lumpia: campurkan tepung terigu dan garam dalam sebuah mangkuk besar.)

6. Pour in cold water and mix well.

(Tuang kedalamnya air dingin dan aduk rata.)

7. Mix the dough for while slap them for about 3 minutes. Preheat your griddle/ non stick pan on medium.

(Aduk terus sambil banting adonan dalam mangkuk selama 3 menit. Panaskan wajan dengan api medium)

8. Start to make the wrappers by rolling the dough around the pan to make circular shape.

(Buat bungkus lumpia dengan menekan adonan dengan gerakan memutar membentuk lingkaran.)

9. When the outer of the wrap starts to curl, time to take it away off the pan.

(Ketika bagian luar lembaran mulai menggulung, saatnya ambil lembaran dari wajan.

10. Place the wrapper upside down a clean kitchen towel/napkin, covered by another clean towel to keep the moist.

(Letakkan lembaran di sebuah lap bersih dengan bagian atas dibawah, ditutup dengan lap lainnya untuk membuatnya tetap lembut.)

11.Put a spoonful of mixed veggies on the middle of the wrapper.Start to wrap it like making an envelope. Seal it with brush of egg white.

(Letakkan sesendok makan tumis sayuran ditengah lembaran dan mulai bungkus seperti membuat amplop. Lekatkan dengan mengoles putih telur di bagian luar amplop.)

12. Ready to fry! Preheat your saucer/deep fryer with lot of oil to fry the popiah/ rolls.

(Panaskan wajan berisi minyak yang banyak untuk menggoreng lumpia.)

13. Put the popiah/rolls inside the hot oil and fry it until golden brown.

(Masukkan lumpia kedalam minyak dan goreng hingga kecoklatan.)

14. Take the popiahs/ rolls out the pan and drain the excess oil out by putting them on a stainer. Done!

(Angkat lumpia dari minyak dan keringkan minyak berlebih dengan meletakkannya di saringan. Selesai!)
